Tim McKinnon

Timothy McKinnon is the Managing Director of the Stronghold Group of Companies, where he focuses on growth strategy, capital origination, and building AI-powered “digital employees” that replace roles traditionally handled by human teams across sales, investor relations, and business development.
Over the past decade, Tim has worked alongside founders and controlling shareholders to drive revenue growth, support capital raises, and scale companies, contributing to multiple successful exits.
His career started early. At 12 years old, he began working in the oil and gas industry, where he was exposed to the business through two company exits. He later spent five years in mining and M&A, gaining experience in capital-intensive resource industries.
Tim attended three universities across North America and Europe, competing in the top league of Canadian university basketball (CIS) while building an international perspective that has since taken him to over 45 countries and seven places he has called home.
Through his work reviewing and analyzing hundreds of companies each year, Tim has developed a sharp lens for separating business stories from real execution. On BizUnLearned, he brings that perspective to conversations about entrepreneurship – breaking down the decisions, partnerships, and execution that determine whether a company actually succeeds or quietly fails. You can find out more about Tim here.
