The Project Management of Life

It should come as no surprise to anyone that Project Victories is about project management and business analysis (aka getting shit done). Most of the time I talk about it here since 2011 has been in reference to business, but getting shit done also applies to life. Funny how that happens, huh?

Planning for Success

Let’s take the example of all of these people who want the country to pay for their education. Have you ever taken the time to talk to some of these people or research them and find out what their degree is in? Many times, it is some basket-weaving bullshit like political science. This is a good degree if you just want to get drunk for 4 years before you go to law school, but if it is all you got, you need to practice saying “Do you want fries with that?”

People who chose this path in life certainly didn’t give it much thought. If you are going to borrow money to get a degree, shouldn’t it be in a career field where you can actually get a job and pay for it? Study business, medicine, or engineering. Furthermore, if the government was smarter, they wouldn’t even give you money for bullshit degrees. However, that’s just me talking.

But What About Day-to-Day

This is just one example. Even if you are a stay-at-home parent project management can help you. After all, the triple constraints of time, scope, and resources apply to everyone’s life. Certainly, risk management does especially considering the current US economy and the state of the government at any given time.

I recently wrote about stakeholder management and that is definitely a factor in everyday life also if for only keeping your mate happy. I want to encourage everybody to add some planning and project management in their lives. If more people did this there would probably be a lot fewer people blaming the world, the president, or the eclipse for their disappointments in life.

Critical Thinking

One thing I wrote about a long time ago on this website is critical thinking. You can read that post here. Critical thinking is about being able to evaluate problems and the world and being able to speak about them effectively. In my opinion, this has become a lost art.

Hell, the emails that surfaced during the 2016 presidential campaign proved that Hillary Clinton was manipulating the election and that is a federal crime. Was she investigated? No, not at all. She came out and said “The Russians hacked us” and America bought her bullshit and spent years and millions of dollars chasing Russians that never existed. This is a logical fallacy known as a Red Herring. Clearly, many people do not have critical thinking skills.

Conclusion

So, when you see posts on Project Victories I don’t want you to think about only their business content. You should also think about how it can help you in your day-to-day life. These are essential skills for success and they are needed by everybody. Speaking of success, we have a whole team dedicated to it called the Success Team right here at Project Victories. Check it out. It just may be able to help you too.
